GA hospital system implements photo ID system to avoid identity theft, ensure a smooth registration

Smile-you're on Northeast Georgia Hospital's webcam.

The Gainesville facility has, since September, greeted patients with a camera. It uses a webcam to take a picture of each patient and denies access to patients who refuse to have one taken (with the exception of the ER, of course).

"I have been working on a self-pay initiative with senior administration, and out of this was one of the drivers for this process," says Cindy Bryant, director of patient access for Northeast Georgia, a 451-bed facility.
