With ED wait times increasing, hospitals trying to calm the storm

Some days, Irma Becker, the revenue cycle manager of patient access at Phoenix (AZ) Children's Hospital, wishes her facility had more ED bays. Other days, she wishes patients came to the ED for true medical emergencies only- not for an ingrown toenail, as one patient did at a hospital where Becker previously worked.

And some days, Becker just wishes she lived in Canada because of the more affordable and efficient healthcare, she says.
