Tracking rates lead to questions-and hopefully solutions
Patient access managers measuring registration accuracy rates will not find all the answers right away.
They will have questions, though. And questions are a good thing-as long as there are solutions.
That is the theory of Michael S. Friedberg, FACHE, CHAM, of Armanti Financial Services in Bloomfield, NJ. Friedberg, a former access manager, says the "accuracy rates will provide you with the questions to ask but not the solutions to the problem. I know there's a problem. I have no idea what the solution is. It says to me I need to look at it. It allows you to develop the right questions to ask to solve the problem. In developing an accuracy program, you have to look at what you expect to get out of it. To me, the idea of accuracy rates is always to emphasize the positive and identify opportunities."
